Trusted Certificates

Whenever I do a soft reset on my HP iPAQ 111 I get this error message in a window:

The file 'Start Menu" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file.

If I tap 'OK', the window closes and everything seems to work normally but it is irritating. How do I make it go away?

Re: Trusted Certificates

Probably a hard reset would fix the issue. Something along the way has altered a rom file

Re: Trusted Certificates

Thanks for the reply!
A hard reset does fix the problem. However, it also wipes out all my installed programs along with lots of notes and a few years of info have stored in my Pocket Informant calender. When I restore my PPC with a Spb Backup file, the error comes back.
I suppose, by definition, there's no way to fix a read only memory file - but I wonder how it got altered in the first place? Does SPB Backup also back-up ROM?

Re: Trusted Certificates

If you are going to use SPB backup, I suggest not doing a full back up, do a custom backup and backup those things that you want to back up like contacts, etc but not everything, it will back .dll's and everything else and may cause you some issues when you flash to a different ROM and do a restore.

Re: Trusted Certificates

yes spb backup will re add the altered rom file that you have overwritten somehow. Or the registry entry that caused the issue.
