[PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
1 Attachment(s)
Alright so, I'm working on some android development projects and this tool came as like a POC/Test application. It turned at well tho, so I decided to package it and share with other android developers that may want. The application itself is very simple and only signs APKs and Zip files for android devices. I would like to also give a big thanks to user Stericson @ XDA for the testsign.jar file used in signing APKs and Zips. From my research he is the one who created/shared this file with everyone. Hope this helps some folks with the signing process.
~Mike Prerequisite: 1. Download and install the Java Runtime if you do not already have installed. 2. Download and install .NET Framework 2.0 if you do not already have this installed or higher version. 3. Download and install the latest PPCGeeks Android Signer application attached to this post. Once we have finished all the above, its really simple to get started! Instructions: 1. Run the AndroidSigner application by clicking the shortcut installed on the desktop. This will bring up the application and look like the screenshot below. http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/2600/89346591.png 2. Drag and drop any android APK or Zip file over onto the box, then click sign. It will produce a file with "-signed" added onto the end in the folder that the original file is located as pictured below. http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/1803/as2.png |

Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
Thank you for the program. However, when I drop the apk in the program and hit sign, i get an error that says it cant find the specified file. Where do I need to have the file located in order for the program to find it?

Thank you. Here's my screen. Just seems to be a generic error.

Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
I'm gonna have to say its because of the apk your trying to sign, I can't be sure of this but I've used it to sign modified htc keyboard apk before. Any way you can attach it for me? Also not sure if you know but if your modifying that file, you can open with 7zip and drag replacement files over into it, and then use without having to sign it. Hope this helps. :thumbleft:

Now that being said you shouldn't have any issues signing ROM files. But am working with OMJ to investigate. ~Mike |
Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
I figured out the prob about the message "The System cannot find the file specified": it's because Java isn't in DOS Path.

Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
Hey
thanks for great job. Several times I tried to sign a zip over than 600Mb but it couldn't. just an empty signed.zip Please guide me or verify me. thanks for answering |
To be honest I haven't tried to sign a file that large. I will try and find the projects source code and have a look for fixes. That's a mighty large ROM to sign, what do u use to sign it instead?

Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
Hi,
I'm having a few problems trying to sign a file to change my GPS settings. I downloaded a zip file that did change the settings, which totally broke my GPS. I tried to revert to the original files by creating a zip file with my original GPS files, Signed it and got a signature verification failed when I tried to install. I tried modifying the original zip files with 7 zip but got failed to verify whole-file signature, and signature verification failed. when I tried to install. Signing the zip file edited with 7zip got me back to just getting signature verification failed. I'm using a GSII running ICS 4.0.4 from Orange. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
Sounds like you're not rooted am I right? If not then you need to take official zip file open with 7zip and edit it then close. It will retain official signature and you should be able to install. Hope this helps.

Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
You are correct I'm not rooted. I tried opening the original file with 7zip, and replaced the 2 files with my original files (In win xp) then closed the archive and transferred it to my phone. When I tried to install that I got the whole file signature failed and also the signature verification failed.
I'll try again tonight. |
Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
Ok so I tried again, I took the file gps_patch_v2.zip that originally broke my GPS checked that it would update the phone in recovery and copied it onto my PC. I opened it in 7zip, copied my backed up GPS.conf and sirfgps.conf into the zip file to replace the two files that were there. I then closed 7zip and copied it back to my phone.
I get E:failed to verify whole-file signature E:signature verification failed Any ideas? |
Re: [PC] PPCGeeks Android APK & Zip Signer
No worries, I found a more up to date file that did work on my handset.
They don't make it easy do they. Thanks for the help. |
