i wouldnt think verizon could do that.. its a federal mandate that phones are allowed to be unlocked after a contract ends and the have to provide the info, if needed, to us to unlock it, making it offically our phone and were allowed to take it to another carrier..
this very well may not be offical but they settled it around the time that 17yr old kid "jail broke" the first iPhone and apple tried to get pissed... it went into litigation over was our freedom of consumer choice being compromised by being stuck with a handset we paid for, and onl being able to use it on one carrier... we definitely won, but they may of gave em time before they have to implement it by...
congress is about to fight another big battle for us it looks like.. their looking at debating whether carrier exlcusivity is comprising our consumer choice.. such as apples Iphone, sprint Pre, or Instinct, etc.. im willing to bet we'll win that battle too...
