Hi! I'm using an O2 Atom at the moment. Yes, I know PPC phones suck at receiving vcards... however, the Atom CAN receive/save vcards via the O2 SMS Plus plugin. Other phone manufactures probably have their own software to handle vcards too, but I'm not too sure!

If your phone doesn't support vcards, there are some software out there that do allow you to save business cards directly into your PPC, for example, SunnySoft Vcard. It is not free software, however.

Anyway, PPC phones generally suck without external software to back them up.

I don't know anything to solve that number-recording scenario... other than to memorize the numbers... lol. Maybe you could get a software that records your phone conversations automatically? VITO Audio Recorder comes into mind here...

Just my 2 cents.
