I would think you would have that all over inside your device for a long time as that stuff leaves an oily residue... I think you'd have more luck with rubbing alcohol although I wouldn't recommend that either
best bet to leave it in front of a fan or in the sun for a couple days imo...
and how do you 'leave' it in a cup of water btw?
