You can try the
Touch InCall Screen Tweak at XDA. It turns the screen off using the light sensor (so off when next to ear) and the g-sensor to turn it back on when you move the phone away from your ear. It works well for me. XDA's site wouldn't load for me when I posted this, but that should be the right link. Just google it if it's not.
