did this start happening after a pim restore? mine did this after a restore. i ended up clearing all my txt then just hard resetting.
there's instructions somewhere here on setting txt view to old style, then back to threaded, but that didn't fix my issue. if a hard reset isn't an option for you, then i guess you can try that... IIRC, it's something like,
1. set sms view to (non threaded)
2. soft reset
3. restore just the txt with the pim util
4. soft reset
5. set sms to threaded
6. open sms app and let it "re-thread" all sms (took my phone a while, i had 3000+ msgs)
7.soft reset again
8. you're done.

but like i said, it didn't fix the prob on mine. so all i did was clear all sms, and then hard reset, and when i did the pim restore, i unchecked sms restore, so it restored everything but my old sms msgs
