Anyway to turn the touch sensitive "d-pad" off in Calendar?

it's a neat feature but horrible applications-wise. when i'm in the Calendar app, and I want to move to the next date, 50% of the time as I touch the d-pad it'll register that touch like crazy as if I made 3-4 different strokes with it.

Is there any way to turn this feature off? I only want to leave it enabled in Opera if that's possible too.
