One way that will fix all your problems is to use
PocketShield to lock your phone but it's not free.
PS locks the phone, gives a super slide to answer/ignore screen & allows you to switch from the HTC dialer to a black skinned version of the WinMo dialer. That dialer will stay lit during a call & ring two rings faster on an incominng call.
