I think it really depends on the content of the site you are browsing. If there are alot of photos or graphics, it will use lots of memory. I just opened a mobile web page and free memory only went down 2 MB. Opened a non-mobile page and free memory went down 5 MB. Web page with alot of pictures, ahem, and free memory went down 9 MB.

Mine only uses about 5 MB - 10MB. then when I close it, it goes back and frees up that memory.
