Yes... Just to reiterate, you should NOT leave your phone in EVDO-only mode unless you enjoy missing phone calls. You may be able to make outgoing calls, but you won't receive incoming calls, and you may not get voicemail notifications until hours or days later. I know this because I made that mistake once

EVDO-only mode may be helpful for phone-as-modem sessions, per the OP.
