Alltell PPC 6700 to Cricket - Is PPC Kitchen all that I need?

I plan to buy an Alltell version of the phone from someone on Craigslist. That thing has WM5 at this point and is locked to Alltell.

I simply want to be able to use it on CRICKET. (Preferably upgraded to WM6)

I am a newbie on this front but I did a bunch of net research for this.. so please bear with me if this is a stupid question. Just point me to a simpler FAQ or tell me.

I hear the following things / steps that need to happen before I can use this phone properly on Cricket.

1- Unlock / Flash
2- ESN Change??
3- Cricket Activiation

I just downloaded the recent version of PPCKitche and let it buildOS etc.

Will it take care of steps 1 & 2 ? So all I need to do is go to the Cricket store, pay them $15 and get the phone plan I want and activate?

Or do I have to pay those shady dealers 20-30$ for Flash, Unlock and ESN thingy before I pay the official $15 for activation?

PS: Does this mean I can create the custom ROM for the 'appropriate' carrier I want and use it on whichever PPC 6700 I buy (irrespective of the original carrier).
