The only reason why that is like that, is because whatever carrier you are with doesn't have an lower end or near obsolete tablets (they just came out) therefore cannot offer a replacement device if yours is lost, stolen or even damaged!

I've been with Rogers for a while and I have utilized the insurance with them, I had an iPhone 3g 8gig, they wanted to offer me a refurbished HTC Touch that had over 1800mins of talk time on it. I asked why they couldnt replace my iPhone, and thier answer was, "We cannot replace for the same type of device, we can only offer devices that are old stock and that have been refurbished." That was a complete and utter shock to me when they said that!
