Samsung Windows Phone 7 devices found to support USB Tethering
Posted on 11-11-10
Surprise, surprise. Despite the fact that tethering isn't currently enabled for Windows Phone 7 devices, a neat trick has revealed the tethering menu for Samsung-based devices. The method involves accessing the phone's diagnostic menu, and changing the USB sync path to Tethered. It's far from plug and play, but if you're looking to take some chances and are eager to stream on your fresh device, read up on the instructions here. This method is reported to work on both the Samsung Omnia 7 and Samsung Focus.
Based on this, it's likely that all Windows Phone 7 devices support tethering at one level or another, but it hasn't been discovered yet. Perhaps a future update will unlock these features. Time will tell.
