I'm not so sure.
I had a 16 gig sandisk card go the hell on me (they are junk, I'm on my 3rd one)
It had a bunch of pics on it. It was no big deal really, they where just awful camera phone pics but it was still annoying.
I googled for a recovery app, found a free one (I don't remember what it was now), but it actually worked. I'm pretty sure it got back almost everything on the card....
