Moving to MetroPCS

My verizon contract is up soon and we are looking to change over to MetroPCS. We live in the solid coverage areas and don't travel, so the price is simply irresistible. I currently have the 6800 (verizon model) with a windows mobile 6.5 rom running. The unit isn't great; the hinges are a bit warn, it needs a new battery, and (this is a big problem) some of the keyboard keys don't work. Still, it is a good fun and I love it (as I loved my 6700 for the years before this one)

I want to be able to take my 6800 over to MetroPCS (especially with their unlimited talk, text, and data plan). I tried looking for guides to do this, but there was nothing straight forward and it was quite confusing (especially when I see language I don't understand).

My two questions are as follows:

1. Is there a better phone to upgrade to? I like Windows Mobile and don't want to leave it (except for android). I want a touch screen and hardware keyboard. It needs to be cheap (maybe near $50, no more than $100). I know that is a tall order, but that is how I came to own a 6800 to begin with.

2. If there is no better phone to upgrade to (meeting those conditions), does anyone know a straight forward (and up to date) guide to moving the 6800 over to Metro PCS? I have heard about MMS problems (and solutions) but as I said, it is all over the place and has badly confused me.
