Which ROM are you using, have you tried
The Nonsense ROM (6.5 Titanium Only) by maisonpulaski, from what I read he used original 3.04 ROM and just removed all Verizon and Touchflo so it may work better for you.. Since he made no changes except what he removed it may still have button the way you want it...
