CyanogenMod comes as a very basic rom. It has many tweaks and background changes that are meant to enhance performance and add some features but it doesn't include many "extra goodies". This includes an overclocking kernel. The stock kernel maxes out at 600mhz.

All you need to do is install a new kernel, which can be found in Rom Manager (free or premium). Go to Download ROM > CyanogenMod and then choose either bekit Kernels or P3Droid Kernels. Both of them have standard and low votage kernels and they have ones with different speed ranges.

I am currently using bekit's standard voltage 1000mhz 5 slot kernel. Works great.
