Question HTC PPC-6800 Vista driver and/or WMDC install problem

If this is a repost my apology's I just have not come across it on here yet.

I just plugged my phone into my windows Vista Home Basic box. Windows Vista pops up the installing new device hardware box as usual. Windows then tells me it was unable to install the device driver's. Then a box pops up that shows you that it tried to locate a driver and was unsuccessful. In the box it shows the icon and the name WMDC. I can only click OK. So I searched on MWU center and found the WMDC download page where I downloaded drvupdate-x86 and proceed to run file. Installer comes up with the following message.

Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update
The update could not be installed because at least one Windows component requires by Windows Mobile Device Center is missing.

OK

So my question is how do I get WMDC so I can active sync my PPC-6800 to my vista ?
