According to iPhone developer, the next version of the iPhone is a go, and that the phone is being used by developers even at this moment.

and i highly doubt this iphone will be called "iPhone 3.1". For one this is the
4th generation iphone. With this new iphone I'm sure OS 4.0 will be coming out so pretty much they are DONE with "3" anything.
