WM6 Keyboard SIP stops responding?

I upgraded a co-workers' 6700 yesterday using the WM6 kitchen. Everything seemed to go well, he was happy, "it's like a new phone!" blah, blah, blah.

Today he was using the standard WM6 keyboard SIP and it stopped responding ... it would not accept any alpha input. It would display numbers & punctuation, though.

His ROM was built with the Touch SIP. I had him try that one and it worked, as were the Transcriber & others. But the standard SIP would not work.

The only way I could get the keyboard SIP back was to reset the device. Also, a soft reset would not bring it back. I pulled the battery and the SIP was working again after resetting.

Any ideas about possible causes? It's never happened on my 6700, but I don't include the Touch keyboard in my ROM. Could these be conflicting somehow?

Thanks for any clues ...
