Hey sah0724, my name is BJ DeHut and I am a representative for Sprint. Sorry to hear about the crack in your phone! I think you are correct in just going with a hard case as a solution. It doesn’t sound like the crack will affect your use, as it sounds cosmetic, but a case will be a good way to ensure it doesn’t continue to grow and cause serious damage. I know a few vendors make different aluminum hard cases for the Touch Pro, I just looked some up on BoxWave for you, this will be a good idea of what is out there, you can then decide on type and hunt for better prices:
