Weird,
I *****ed about that with the Sprint Treo Pro (first device to launch with IE6).
My bet: it's a memory thing. It has a low threshold for consumption and will close out automatically. Nothing you can do about it, except maybe the trick to "roll back" IE6 to PIE. Not sure if that works on the TP2 as it does the STP.
