Re: Verizon Touch Diamond Woes

Why someone has not posted this information here in the Diamond thread is beyond me. It originated in the Trouch Pro thread.

If you have a Verizon (GMS) Diamond XV6950, and need to unlock your GPS, the following is a copy of the post on http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1147863 that I followed in order to get mine unlocked

The "post 1: referred to above, is located at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49933 which is a Touch Pro Thread, but following his directions worked perfectly on my Verizon Diamond. Once you get it done, and it works as well as mine did, then donate to lllboredlll. He deserves it.

The only difficulty I had was 1) realizing that, by "navigate to \windows\ppst.exe" he meant for me to "find it on my diamond and run it" and 2) I didn't pay close enough attention to:
"Programs Tab- GPS Program Port: Com4"
"Hardware Tab- GPS Hardware Port: None, Baud Rate: 4800"
and I had to pretty much figure it out for myself, but these settings are in "settings/system/external gps/programs" and "settings/system/external gps/hartware"

"Set Chip to Q 7500 and mode to Cold Start"
totally baffled me, so I ignored it and everything worked fine.

Hope this helps some frustrated Verizon Diamond users. By the way, I had google maps already installed on my phone, so that I was able to immediately check and be sure that it worked.
