Diamond Authentication

Hi All,

I've been trying for the past... well however long... to use my HTC Touch Diamond (originally from Telus) on my current CDMA cell provider MTS. So far the progress has been good, I've gotten them to activate the phone and I can successfully send/receive call and text messages.

However for some reason I cannot get Data on the phone. The reason for this (as per MTS) is because the phone is coming up as an unknown phone on their network. MTS said that it's because they don't have the provisioning data for the phone, and yet they sell HTC Diamonds. There's also another member on this forum who has a Touch Pro and activated it with MTS with Data; MTS doesn't sell the Touch Pro.

So I'm wondering if someone can give me an explanation as to why a phone they sell comes up as an unknown phone, when one they don't comes up as a data phone?

Is it some programming on the phone? Maybe the radio, or OS? Or something in the PST menu?

Is there anything I can try or do?

Thanks!
