Do a search on Low Volume MOgul and you'll find a bunch of stuff to try.

I have the same problem with my 6700 so I'm going to try that ...
also do a search on init volume and you'll find a regedit. There's also a way to get your MSL (search getSPC) and then you can edit the vocoder settings to 13K and that will help as well.
