+1 Elmerfudpucker. Heat is the enemy. Also make sure since you're tethered that you can keep any addl radio devices off on you phone. E.G. turn off bluetooth & wifi if they are on for some reason while you're tethered. Those two items will increase the heat buildup quick.

I also lay my device face down on the table when tethered with the battery cover off since most of the heat radiates from the back.
