I was in an area with no Alltel service for hours, my phone roamed on EVDO of Verizon just fine. Transferred a few things just to test, haven't seen anything on my account that is odd yet. Be careful though if you do this, it could cause some crazy roaming charges since there is no agreement for EVDO.

If they were to charge you, I don't think it would be immediate anyways. Verizon would have to pass that on to Sprint first I would think.
